Wollen Sie tanzen? - An HTTT Hessian AAR

Hi. This is the third time I try to start an AAR. The two first was in CU, so now will be the first time I try with decent starts. I have choosen Hesse, a Three province landlocked german minor.

Goals:
Conquering Germany.
Participate in the colonial race.
Survive the franch expansion that will happen at some point.
A WC is not likely.

Ive set the rules at everything normal, except Lucky Nations (Off) and inflation (From gold only). Inflation is due to this being the only second attempt at HT3, and I would like to master the game mechanics before I start going bankrupt. But, this will still be interesting anyways.

Ive already got an Introduction ready, and it will appear here in a few minutes. Have fun!

An introductory remark

Hesse starts out sorrounded by other german minors, and with a standing army of 1000 men. It is therefore one of the most gifted german minors in 1399, but it will soon be evident wether I'm good at this game or not.

Our starting economy is good as of 1399. A decent group of ducats is sent to the govt. tech. Trade will also need to be expanded.

Our king, Hermann von Hessen, is not a great king, but will do for now.
His advisor are a good bunch though, and they will probably soon be valuable.

Our military has a quite large forcelimits, which will be useful once we get to guarantee enough countries.

Our rulers military rating. He is not completely useless, but we could nevertheless have used someone more able.

Our starting culture screen, which shows our cultural tradition and decisions. This is the new nation overwiev screen, to those of you who havent got HT3.

Our starting policies. We start with a move centralised, which will be bad no matter what happens, but it will be more useful now.

And, indeed, 2000 pretenders pops up in my capital. This ends the introduction. In the next update we shall all press the unpause button. Together.

The first real update will be in the weekend.

Im not gonna tell you. Right now Im nervous about how strong his cclaims to the throne are. The lower the claim, the lower the legitimacy, the higher your revolt risk and the lower your prestige.

I've never seen Hesse make it to the sea. But thats mainly because I play as larger central european nations, and Trash all their neighbours.

Thank you. I dont know if thats possible. Then I'd have to enter a royal marriage with a realm with the same dynasty as me, and theres only one von Hessen.

I shall try. As long as I dont claim any thrones. In my test game as Ansbach yesterday, I claimed to thrones, and annexed Wurttemberg with a little help from Bavaria. I had - 198 with all my monarch neighbours

Im surprised Nodscouterr hasnt seen this one yet. Perhaps he has stopped following me! YAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!

...Aaaanyway.... Next update could be already tomorrow, as I just need to upload pics. You should, however, expect an update rate that doesnt come by schedule. I have got very different weeks.

Check the pretender's stats and see if they are better. That's what I always do.

Next update will be on saturday. I would have made it today, but I had an accident at school, and had to go to the hospital. I got three stitches in my left knee, but I'm alright. Its quite snowy in Denmark right now, so that explains what happened.

Internal struggles

On day two I get 6 messages on top of each other. 5 alliance offers and 1 mission. Royal marriage missions arent the really best thing in HTTT, as everybody claims your throne. I do, however, accept all alliance offers.

Cologne requests military access. Its declined, as Westfalen is Hessian at culture, and therefore should be liberated from those Rheinländishe fools.

I complete my first mission. It wasn't that hard, and I expect to receive a claim on my throne within days.

The battle isn't proceeding as well as it could be. But, their army is larger, and I expect to be able to push them away from the area as soon as my cavalry regiment is finished.

New mission. Shouldn't be too hard, as I'm larger than Cologne. However, I need to clear the rebels before doing that.

And, the claim does indeed come. At this point I have RM's with more than 5 nations, and 4 of them has claimed my throne.

I decide to send merchants to Lübeck, where The Hansa recides. I also join their trade league for maximum outcome. To those of you who doesnt own HTTT, or havent played it yet, Trade leagues are something all Merchant republics have, and it makes some certain rules for trade apply.

The claimants lose their claim, as a new heir is born. Wilhelm is a great name, and he sure will be nice to have.

With my king as general, I managed to beat the pretenders, and I'm now chasing them to Nassau, where another victory awaits, but....

...comes with a price. This means 16 years of regency, unless the pretender seizes the throne.

And that seems to make some liberals angry. This means that theres now almost 4000 men in Nassau, way too much for my dwindling army, which is still battling the last of the pretenders.

And, the update ands here. The weird thing is, that I lost my pics for next update.

I will give you a short resume:

My army is annihilated, The pretenders seize Nassau, and arrives in Hessen before the revolutionaries. After seizing Hessen, the nation collapses, and within hours, the heir dies, the pretender becomes king, and the leader of the revolutionaries becomes king.

The new king is Barnabas I Münden, and he has rubbish stats at DIP and ADM, but is good at MIL. Lets see where this will take us.
