Medieval World

Introducing a new medieval period mod for EUII...

In a Nutshell:
-Uses WATKABAOI map
-Timeframe: 844AD-1337AD
-Scenarios: 844, and in the future 1067 and 1205.
-Ideally, it will allow conversion into the AoI scenarios allowing gameplay from 844 to 1914. (Yet to be implemented)

Longer Explanation:
This mod I originally planned to create for the MWATK map but that was never completed and it's current version is inadequate for a proper game. So i decided to use the next best thing, the WATKABAOI map. I then came up with an idea, wouldn't it be awesome if you could play a medieval scenario and then be able to convert it into a renaissance game. And then MedWorld was born. This mod is designed to, as best as possible, be converted into the WATKABAOI 1337 scenario. Ofcourse this is yet to be tested as the mod is not finished.

1: add 876 scenario
.............a) add european nations....................-done

Wow! Looks good ! agc-what?

a campaign from 876-1914...
i'll be camping in front of the pc for weeks that way
you'll need some sound triggering to get events to fire i guess after a couple of 100years of gameplay...

Aye, Thanks for the quick replies, shows there's interest atleast. Although there's much to be done and many issues involved.

One of the hardest decisions so far was what nations to include as separate nations. Medieval Europe was full of counties, dutchies, kingdoms and dynasties who were all really vassals of each other so its hard to decide what to separate and what not to (most visible with the Normandy and Norman England, same country or separate nations and when do they separate?). Then there's the issue of tribal groups which dominated Eastern Europe in this time. I've done my best so far to replicate a medieval world and obviously many many events are still needed to slowly progress the game towards its 1337 historical climax.

I should say, i actually am unsure how you would go about converting this game into WATKABAOI, all i've done is ensured that all nations existing at the end of this mod are featured as starting nations in the 1337 WATKABAOI such that a conversion would be possible. Although there would still be much reconciliation required.

I've used several other mods and discussion thereof for inspiration and at times have poached certain aspects from them including the Year 900 Scenario, IFU, Dark Ages and MES. I have also used some flags and shields by Kaigon which i found. I hope nobody objects to my using their work.

I could use a hand in many areas:
Creating monarch and leader files, i've found a good source on monarch names but then you need to give them ratings.
Loads of events need writing, i've made a rough list of european events.
The AI files of course, i'm not too experienced with programming AI.

If you really want a beta i'll upload it soon. But note, many of the events have no descriptions yet.

Looks really good. Stuff like who you will convert the different nations that does not exist in WATKABAOI might be a bit hard, because I left like zero free nations.

I know you did. The idea is that when the mod is finished, if the game progresses historically, which it won't, then only the nations that exist at the start of WATKABAOI will exist at the end of MedWorld.

The straits didn't work and we couldn't fix it without Kasperus.

Ah, that's a shame. Would have thought that anyone who knows about map-making could have fixed that one.

So would I, since I'm pretty sure that I told the interested parties what I thought would be needed to fix the problem... But I guess using an already finalized and well-developed map as watkabaoi is better for any mod developed nowadays that to have to spend weeks if not months to get mwatk on the same level (I know I wouldn't bother myself )

Well cool-toxic did what you said but it didn't work so we were at a loss. But as you said, there was still a lot of work required to finish MWATK.

I'm working on a new version, although it's not finished yet. I got some AI now and I had trial run of things the other day for about 30 years and the British definitely had fun against the Danes. I'll try release v0.2 soon. Although if anybody knows anything about 9th Century history I would appreciate any help.

Exploring my mod launcher, noticed a mod called "Dark Ages". You could contact the maker of that (old) mod and see if you can borrow his work.
The mod is in vanilla map, though.
