1419-1920: A German Tale

Introduction

Germany, 2006

"Be Quiet!"-Frederich said. The classroom became in Silence.
He Continued:
"So, Today, we're gonna study how germany was united and became a great power!"-"As You Should Know, The Kingdom Of Branderburg origined The Actual Germany, being an importat piece in German History, so today, we gonna study how this kingdom was formed and started it rise to power. But First, open your books, titled 1419-1920: A German Tale, and read the introduction!
Klaus,as much of the other students, weren't really animated to read or study such any book of Germany history, but he had to do it:
"Brandenburg is situated entirely in territory of Germania recorded by Tacitus in 98 AD. By 600 first groups of Slavic people arrived. In 948 Emperor Otto I the Great established German control within the policy of Drang nach osten over the now largely Slavic inhabitants of the area and founded the dioceses of Havelberg and Brandenburg; he died in 983. In the great uprising in 983 the Slavs wiped out German control from the territory of present day Brandenburg. The monasteries were buried, priests and Germans officials killed or expelled. The Slavic tribes living east of Elbe remained independent and pagan for the next 150 years."
"In the beginning of the 12th century the Saxon German kings and emperors conquered the Slavic-inhabited lands of present-day Brandenburg. Many Slavic inhabitants survived the conquests and live there still today - Sorbs, Lusatians. The church brought bishoprics, which with their walled towns, afforded protection for the townspeople from attack. With the monks and bishops, the history of the town of Brandenburg, which in time became the state of Brandenburg, began. In 1134, in the wake of a German crusade against the Wends, the German magnate Albert the Bear was granted the Northern March by the Holy Roman Emperor Lothar II. For some time up until the 15th century, some part of the area that would become Brandenburg was inhabited by the Slavic Wends, who still make up a part of the area's modern population."

Monument commemorating Albrecht, Spandau Citadel, Berlin

"Albert's control of the region was nominal for several decades, but he engaged in a variety of campaigns against the Wends, as well as more diplomatic efforts which saw his control become more real by the middle of the century. In 1150, he formally inherited Brandenburg from its last Wendish ruler, Pribislav. Albert, and his descendants the Ascanians, then made considerable progress in Christianizing and cultivating the lands. There was never any distinction made by any of the German rulers and the Slavic and German tribes intermarried."

"In 1320 the Brandenburg Ascanian line came to an end, and from 1323 until 1373 Brandenburg was under the control of the Wittelsbach family, better known as rulers of Bavaria. After a period of rule by the Imperial Luxembourg dynasty, however, the margravate was granted 1415 by the Emperor Sigismund to the house of Hohenzollern. From 1356 until the Empire's end in 1806, the Margrave of Brandenburg was also one of the electors of the Holy Roman Empire."

(Non-contemporary) portrait by Albrecht Dürer

At This Time, the class ended. But There was Still 500 Years of History to Klaus Study, many kings, generals, etc...that formed the Mighty Germany.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a weaked Intro, but I couldn't found many material from early Bradenburg, Sorry. But the real game is what matters

Saulta : Thanks! I hope making a cool stuff

Gagarin
: I'll not follow the historical-like, since in 500 year conquering just Germany and one or two territories would be very boring. But I'll do a slower expansion for make Victoria Part Interesting Too.

Yes, a German AAR!

But I do wonder why nearly all German players choose Brandenburg to start with. Austria unifying Germany at that time would be much more realistic ...

Nah doesn't matter. Hope this will be a great AAR! It's already a good beginning.

All Updates From Now On are from the book 1419-1920: A German Tale!

1419-1920: A German Tale

[i]Bradenburg Flag

1419-Overview

By 1419, The Realm Of Brandenburg was like one more weak-german state. It didn't have even a powerfull economy, miltary, nothing very impressive.

Territory and Economy

In Earlier XV century, Bradenburg had 2 territories: The Land Of Küstrin, wich the main city was named Küstrin and the lands of Brandenburg, wich capital was Berlin, also capital of the Realm. Economycally, the base product of thes lands was Wool, so a very low trade revenue.

Military

Just like all German Neighbours, brandenburg had a considerably army. Not Big but not so small.

Neighbours

German Minors by North and West, Bohemia in South and the big-dangerous one: Poland to East.
Here's a map of Brandenburg Neighbours in 1419:

Diplomatic

Having Claims in All Germany-Culture Provinces, Brandenburg had casus-belli with many Nations. Also, Magdenburg was Vassal and in 1419 Brandenburg and Magdenburg signed an alliance:

Technology

Just Like any European Country it had level 1 in land tech but since not having any port, level 0 in naval. Level 0 also in trade and infrastructure.
The Primary Objectives are raise trade/infra to level 1~2 and after some land tech.

Realm

Since 1415, Brandenburg was ruled by the Hohenzollern family, headed by Friedrich I.

Domestic Policies

Bradenburg was a aristocratic-decentralizated country. But in 1419, Friedrich I did some rules that made his own power becoming bigger, however, there was a long way to brandenburg become a centralizated country.

And it starts.

Just a remark, you forgot claims on Mainz, Erz and one Austrian province (Ostmarch). Sudeten is Czech AFAIK when the game starts.

I see you've given yourself a few little leg-ups.

Will you join on the bandwagon that always seems to declare war on the Hanse?
