SMACK (Solmyr's Mods and Addons for CK)

SMACK (Solmyr's Mods and Addons for CK) v3
made by Solmyr with influences by the CK mod community
designed for CK version 1.04b (should always work with the latest beta)

What this mod package contains:
- lots of new events
- revised character health events

Installation of new events:

1. Place all .txt files in your db\events folder.
2. Place modtext.csv in your config folder. If you are already using modtext.csv, append the text in mine to yours. Make sure all #EOF lines remain at the end of the file, not in the middle.
3. Add the following lines to the file events.txt in your db folder:

event = "db\events\add_trait_events.txt"
event = "db\events\age_events.txt"
event = "db\events\byz_events.txt"
event = "db\events\chaplain2_events.txt"
#event = "db\events\cool_courtiers.txt" # currently inactive while I determine how well courtiers are generated via official events
event = "db\events\injury_events.txt"
event = "db\events\jews_events.txt"
event = "db\events\law_change_events.txt"
event = "db\events\madness_events.txt"
event = "db\events\muslim_events.txt"
event = "db\events\nastiness.txt"
event = "db\events\trait_pair_events.txt"

If you don't want to use some of these files, simply don't add the corresponding line.

Voila! You are set. The events will now fire in both new and ongoing games.

Installation of modified health events:

1. Place character_health_events.txt from this package in your db\events folder. It will replace the one already there (backup the original if you want).
2. The modified health events will now be in use in all games.

Changes to health events:
- all action_a for health-related events changed to immidiate
- replaced many event pictures from event_plague to more appropriate ones
- age brackets for modifiers in dying of old age changed from 55-60-65-70 to 50-55-60-65, making people more likely to die earlier
- death at young age event can now trigger until the child is 5 years old (was 2 in the original), mtth increased to 150
- age modifiers added to getting basic illness and stress, making older people more likely to get them
- "Tower of Babylon" event changed to trigger for rulers only to prevent the player's courtiers from going into pointless debt
- all maniac events had their mtth doubled to 240 months, to compensate for the new madness events in this package

NOTE: Blanket permission is given to translate the event text in this package to any other language, provided I get the original credits.

NOTE 2: My original courtier-generating events may be rendered obsolete by the recent additions to beta patches. If, however, you still wish to use them, just uncomment the cool_courtiers.txt line.

I am wondering what are the myros_RP_events? I haven't seen the corresponding texts in modtext.csv?

Oops, those aren't supposed to be there. Just delete them (they probably won't work anyway).

These are just add ons, right? We don't lose any of the basic game events by using these? The more the merrier!

Again with myros_RP_events; I've read the events and I find them quite interesting too!
Why aren't they proposed to the community?

I think there could have a bug with the mtth : months = 3000.

I tested some of my events yesterday with a mtth of months = 1200. The events were happening every 2 days!
I changed to years = 100 and all went fine!

Along with that, Solmyr : would you mind if I propose a translated version of your SMACK to the french community (don't think it exists yet) ?

Those events were made by Myros, so you'll have to ask him. I'm not sure if they will work with the beta, and I think many similar RP events have already been officially included in the latest beta patch.

I can't really figure out what's the latest patch! I can play with 1.04a, but is 1.04b also a patch?
I have now 1.04b from the 18th of Nov. and when I use your Mod, I get the message when I start that there is an error! I press ignore, but there seem to be something all wrong!
Will you please help me?

Yes, it works with the 18 Nov beta.
What kind of error are you getting?
Did you place all files into correct directories? Particularly modtext.csv.

The message says "Database Mismatch"

I have been putting all the events into db/events.
The Characher names, I have just placed in the db folder.
Modtext, I have placed in the config folder..

So.. What's wrong?
It's the only add-on I have except the 1.04b from 18.Nov!

Do you get any errors without the mod?
Are you using any other custom mods or events? Did you use any before (some of their files might have remained around to screw things up)?

If all else fails you might try reinstalling CK, 1.04a, 1.04b, and then the mod.

I didn't try without the mod...
Well I have some graphicical changes, as I have installed some shields! And then I had your old events for the 1.04a(SECK) I will try to reinstall the game, and then put 1.04a and then 1.04b on...(But do I have to install 1.04a first or does that not matter??) Then I do the SMACK one more time...
BTW, if I do that, I can still save my savegames on the deskop and then put them back in again right? I mean, now when it's screwed up, I don't hope it have "infected" the savegame!

Okay...
I have now experimented a little bit...

First I installe CK - No Problem!

Then I installed some music files and graphic - No Problem!

Then I installed 1.04 - No Problem!

Then I installed 1.04a and 1.04b - No Problem!

I then installed SMACK, putted "charachter" in the db-folder. "modtext" in the config-folder, and the rest of text files in the db/events-folder. I then added them to the "events-text". When I try to start "DATABASE MISMATCH!"

So, the problem lies in the smack! I guess it's me who have made something terrible wrong! But what?

OKAY (Again )

I have found the problem!!!
It was simply that, that I had placed the readme-file together with the other files in the Events.txt!
But thanks anyway... I hope I will enjoy you Mod as well as I did with SECK!
