Interesting AAR!

Allthough I understand your desire for a pan-orthodox alliance, is it worth the trouble you get by being allied to Serbia? At the moment, she isn't what you would call a powerful ally, more a liability...

Good luck anywayz with your campaign!

Serbia is useful for one reason mainly, I could use her as a lever against Venice and to remove the need to attack Venice by sea. She is useful or could be useful as a means at keeping Venice busy while I gobble up the eastern med. Well that's the theory.

1446 <repeated due to loss of save game>

The Second war of the Danube
In April 3,000 infantry were completed in Thrace and I decided to launch by first real war of agression against the upstant and treacherous Romanian Leugue (Wallacia and Moldovia). On April 2nd I declared war on Vlad II Dracula's Wallacia and my allies Duchy of Athens and Serbia did not dissapoint (nor did Wallacia's ally Moldovia). Konstantinos met Vlad II in the mountains of Bulgaria and WAS DEFEATED!!!!!!

With Konstantinos forced to regroup in Rumelia Vlad II headed to relieve his capital in Wallacia proper from the Serbian army besieging it. The Serbs were sent scattering before his wrath. A month later in July the brave Athenians engaged Vlad II and showing far more competance than the barbarian Slavs actually won. Konstantinos moved to cut off his escape and the demoralised Wallacian army fled to Kosovo.

Bulgarian seperatists chose that moment to rise up against their Wallacian opressers and a rather sizable rebel army 12,000 strong in total engaged the victor Konstantinos in battle. Konstantinos yielded to the rebels and retreated without a fight leaving them to besiege the provinces loyalist fortresses unopposed.

In December Vlad II died and was replaced by Dan III who was soon murdered a month later and replaced by Vladislav II.

Events in Turkey
The Karamen were forced to give the province of Angora to the Candarians and Teke was annexed not by Venice or the knights but by Ak Koyondlu. Whether they'll be able to stop it breaking away remains to be seen.

Konstantinos receives his first defeat at the hands of Count Dracula's pikemen.

The war against the romanian leugue started the year earlier is in full swing. Dracula is dead and the Wallacian nation has seen the coming of two counts of Wallacia within two months. With the death of Vlad Dracula the only leader ever to have beaten Konstantinos in battle the Wallacian army is now a spent force but it's northern ally Moldovia is in a far better position.

The Second war of the Danube continues
The Moldovians tried to dislodge Konstantinos from Wallacia but despite a more than 2to1 adavantage in numbers were driven back. Konstantinos was dislodged but not by the Moldovians. He was dislodged by an unruly horde of hungry Serbian peasants (the Serbian army) and decided to save his troops from ignomanious starvation by withdrawing.

Having taken control of Bulgaria another smelly horde of peasants (the bulgarian seperatists) decided to "liberate" everything up to the coast ignoring the fact that it was controlled by ME. When will they get it into there heads that the people there are loyal citizens of Byzantium and not of a country that doesn't at present exist.

On July 21st the cowardly Moldovians sent an envoy of peace offering a small (at least in global politics) sum of money (12 ducats) to help me kill their allies. How cowardly can you get?

The war is virtually won, Moldovia has left Wallacia to it's fate. The country is in a state of virtual collapse it's last forces annihilated and it's fate sealed. Bulgarian rebels have liberated their home from Wallacian rule, Wallacia itself has fallen to Serbia and Kosovo is under siege from the Serbian army. Ironicly Byzantium has now very little role in this war and Konstantinos retreats to Konstantinos with what is left of his forces after two years of hard fighting leaving Byzantium's Serbian lackeys to deliver the last blow to Wallacia.

In Wallacia a group of patriotic Wallacians rebelled against the provinces current Serbian occupiers and laid siege to Turnovgrad. However the Serbians made fast progress with the siege of Nish and Kosovo was soon under their control.

Bulgaria reborn
When Kosovo fell in October it was left with no loyal provinces and it's government collapsed. Bulgaria declared independance and Kosovo was absorbed into Serbia. Vladislav was allowed to live but his credibility was hurt severely and he lost most of his interest in state matters, leaving government mainly to incompetant and corrupt officials.

Bulgaria however was reborn and Balina (is that a woman or somekind of council) became the governing power in Bulgaria.

The day before Konstantinos XI was crowned alongside his serbian wife as emporer and emporess of Byzantium. Expectations for the future are high with such a infamous hero in charge. His first act was to ally with Bulgaria .

Okay, I reckon this was not exactly what you wanted, or was the goal of this was merely to cripple Wallachia, not to conquer any lands?

Not exactly, I'd originally intended to vassalise Wallacia and thus break up the romanian leugue in order for me to eventually bring them both into my alliance. I have succeeded though in crippling Wallacia so it's not going to stick a knife in my back when I take on the Venitians or the Ak Koyondu expercially if I keep Moldovia sweet. Bulgaria as a country is actually far more use to me than as a province beacause at least that way it can support maybe 6-7,000 troops and now Serbia has Kosovo I'll be able to move troops into Serbia to support them again.

The Big Bad loan is extended
The first concern to face Konstantinos XI this year was the big bad loan, which to everyone's great annoyance couldn't be repayed.

In march Konstantinos XI arranged a marriage between one of his brothers and Balina, queen of Bulgaria,

In april Rumelia fell to the rebels and they headed directly to Constantinople. The forces of Byzantium defeated them, but took heavy losses and Konstantinos XI was stuck in Thrace without the forces to effectively subdue to rebel controlled forces in Rumelia.

Not much happened in this year really

Half way through the 15th century Byzantium is not the super-power it once was but is in a relitively strong position territorally. It's economy is however in a poor shape with inflation aprox. 4 times higher than most of europe and is plagued by loans.

Hungary invades Serbia
Hungary and it's ally Sienburgen decided to keep the blood from drying in Serbia and declared war on January 5th. Me and my allies (Duchy of athens and Bulgaria) joined the war on it's side. However my army was still annoyingly depleted and the rebel fortresses in Rumelia still had to be dealt with and the Hungarian army swept into Serbia. After using my limited resources to scrape together a few thousand infantry and went to retake my lost fortresses in Rumelia. I spent most of the year besieging the Rumelian fortresses and Serbia was left to battle alone which it didn't do too well at.

Revolt in Ragusa
With the pope busy waging war against the French, the Ragusan Slavs chose to rise up against the holy father (one of them anyrate!!!). They would continue to besiege Ragusa unnoposed and would soon take it.

I'd love to see more of this AAR, if it's still got life in it.
