After I accidentally saved over my Swedish AAR, I decided to make a new one. And I chose Oman.
Positive things: Shiite 1 fort ummmmmmmm... Negative things: Shiite! Only 1 fort! Piss poor base tax and manpower Bad soldiers probably throughout the whole game I can go on alot longer! Yea, I'm in deep shit! Well, at least I try to surive. Goals(Like I will accomplish any of them): Survive Unite Arabia Control North Africa Control Persia and the Causcasus Finsh the Re-reconquista Colonize America and see if the US and A will be a muslim nation Without further ado, let the AAR begin:

Chapter 1: Introduction
It was the 7th october of 1399. The pope had called a crusade against the mameluks to retakte Jerusalem, and as a proper catholic I of course joined. Little did I know I would end up like this. I have been wandering the Arabian desert for 6 days, my water is little and my food is none. My horse I had to abandon my horse to the vultures, my armor to the heat. I saw something coming. Three riders. At first I thought they were turks or mamelukes, but when they caught up with me I saw that they were Omans. I thought they were gonna execute me, but instead they gave me water and took me to Muscat. It was then I met their sultan, Mahzum. Everyone in christian europe believe that the muslims were bloodthirsty devils, especially the turks and mamelukes. But this man were far more civilized than anyone I ever met. He even knew French! He took me too see his city. The market places, the mosques, the schools and the hospitals. As we were walking back towards his palace a man came rushing towards him. ''Excuse me'' he said in perfect french. The man seemed stressed. He was holding a piece of paper. I didn't understand as it was written in arabian. They started talking in arabian. I did not understand, but it seemed to be something about that small paper. Mahzum seemed to be angry about something, while the other man seemed frightened and stressed. In the end the man ran away. ''I'm sorry'' he told me. ''I have to go, the crusaders are coming'' I knew that I should be happy about that fact, but for some strange reason I couldn't bring myself to see this people slaughtered by the knights as I knew they would if they come into the city. I didn't understand how I could feel like that. These people were muslims! Heathens! Those who I had left Normandy to attack. But I just couldn't. Mahzum signaled to me to follow him up on the walls. There I could see what was at least 10 000 fellow knights. ''We have 7500 soldiers at our disposal'' Mahzum told me extremely calm. ''But you will see, we will prevail'' he went down the stairs. I just stood there petrified. 10 000 well trained and well equipped veteran knights against their 7500 ''soldiers''? Pas possible! I saw as he mounted his horse and picked up his saber. He rode out of the city with the 7500 soldiers following him. Not the most disciplined perhaps, but I could see in their eyes, they would not give up their land without a fight, they would win this battle or die trying. I was most sure the latter would happen. As the men stood there their sultan rode past every one of them and spoke something in arabian. I do not know what he said, but it certainly had some effect. The next thing they knew they were charging at the enemies. The knights were taken by surprise. Hundreds died in the initial charge. In this battle the Knights superior discipline would not help them. During the battle I saw something that was extremely surprising to me. Another knight went out of one of the Crusaders tents and started charging to the fight, but the longer he ran the slower he walked. In the end he stopped right before coming to the fighting itself, dropped his sword and put his hands in the air. Mahzum rode up to him. He then looked quickly at me and back at the man. The man looked at me too. But then as Mahzum was going to lead the man out of the battle he was shot by three arrows in the back and fell in the sand right next to the sword. I knew who had shot him, one of the generals of the Crusader army. Mahzum, outraged by this, charged at the leader and before he could react a sword was going through his body. Many knights saw this and fled the battle. If it was we who won over them we would have chased down everyone of them and slaughtered everyone of them. But the Omans let them flee. They were not us. Mahzum returned to me. ''Now, where was I?''

My friend, I really was enjoying your initial AAR. I wish you better luck on this attempt. Good start with the intro.
And, I know how you feel...I have to restart my new AAR...as all the screen shots just vanished from my PC.

To my understanding you can PM one of the admins to ask them to change the title of your AAR.
Anyway, good luck on your endeavor: Oman is a country not often used in the AAR-verse, so good luck to you!

Pictures will come, this update was just a story introduction. There were no crusade in the game, not against me, not against the mameluks and not against the OE
I NEVER autosave.

Too bad about the death of your Swedish conquests, but Oman should be interesting, new neighborhood, new neighbors, new pets to avoid...

I'm deeply sorry for it taking so long to update. School and my laziness have prevented me from posting. Anyway here is Chapter 2! of In the sands of the desert
Chapter 2: War of the desert I still couldn't believe that these soldiers were able to repel the knights. It looks like it was a good thing that I was found by the Omans and not the knights. That could have ended badly... The knights did not return, they were too afraid. Even though several generals had ordered them too, they refused. I was walking around the marketplace to find something to eat when Mahzum came up to me. ''My friend, I have something to ask of you'' he said. ''Yes?'' I answered. ''Perhaps you know that the people of Beni yas and surruonding territory has embraced the Shi'ah faith'' I didn't even know that there were several brances of Islam at that time but I let him go on. ''But the territory's owned by the damned Najd who is on the Sunni side of islam'' ''Therefore, it is our duty to free them of their opression'' ''And what has this to do with me?'' I interrupted. He took a deep breath before finally saying ''We need you to serve in our army as a general'' I was outraged. How could these heathens think that I would lead them? But in the end, these men had saved my life and I would have to repay that. ''Yes my lord'' I answered. After that I picked out a apple and started to eat it. ![]() It took some time before Mahzum finally decided to start the war. But soon enough the soldiers began to pour over the lines of Najd. The soldiers were celebrated in every city as they arrived. ![]() I was walking down the halls of the Nadji palace. I was to help Mahzum in his peace negotitiations. Fortunately I had begun to learn some arabian. As the Bedawi saw Mahzum coming in to the small room he said ''Come in and take a seat'' But as he saw me come too he yelled at Mahzum ''What kind of mockery is this? How DARE you bring a christian crusader to my palace?''. ''This man has helped me, I do not care which religion he follows'' Mahzum answered. ''No, I will not tolerate a crusader knight in my palace. He must go!'' the Bedawi shouted at Mahzum ''Then so will I'' he said rising up from his chair. ''It is not I who has half of my country occupied...'' he added just before the doors were closed. ''I'm sorry for how he treated you my friend. I assure you, next time he won't be like that'' he said as he was walking back towards his camel. It was true. Only a month later the capital of Najd was captured. The bedawi had fled to Beni Yas but Mahzum and I found him. He was hiding in a small house. As we entered we saw that he was praying, but he had a sabre on his desk. As we closed the door he looked up at us and quickly hid the sword. ''Ah, you're back...'' he said ''I'm afraid so'' Mahzum answered. ''This is a fine house, it will make a fine addition to Oman'' he said. The bedawi nodded. The peace discussion didn't take long. There were no objections and no demands from the bedawi. Mahzum could have made any demand to his rival, but he was a man of mercy and only took the land where his religious brethren were. The rest he left. ![]() The Sultanate of Oman as of the 10 June 1400:

Mercy, bah! Methinks Nadj and Oman will dance the dance of death at least twice more for Oman to be acknowledged as the ruler of Arabia. Does Oman have much of a navy?
