The Poles got strong again, so a war against them would be a bit problematic. Especially as the Archbishop of Wielkopolska, Bogumil, is first in the line of succession of the Papal State. And as you fight wars against personalities and not countries in CK, this would mean I had to fight the Papal State as well if the current Pope dies. And even if I currently have 1500 men more than the Poles, the Papal State could change the war to the negative.
Now I have again another problem, as the Poles could get their manpower back, thus being stronger again, if I don't fight them now. But as I don't want to fight the Pope, I will have to live with this. And no, I wouldn't get excommunicated, as in this game not the Pope himself, but the PC does this. The only point I'd get excommunicated is if I take Rome and don't let it go again.
Thus I must expand in another direction, otherwise I'd be too weak for the Poles, once a war is possible. The best target would be Pommerania, a pagan tribe, which isn't a real challenge to me. The good thing in the Baltics is, that you get a lot of land for free by fighting heathens. But of course you have to be fast, as the AI does the same.
In the beginning of February 1080 I build a training ground in Mecklemburg. Of course it shall be only one of many, but as this province is the richest in the area, and I plan only to use the men from there, to not waste money or men from Bohemia itself, this is the first.
Fortunatly the thieves guild in Plzen gets smashed again. She developed in the war against the Poles, as many bad things do in a war, here the game is quite realistic. This raises my income, and what is even more important, my manpower.
Also I have now invented the third stage of castles, I go on with siege equipment. First a good defense, now a good offense.
I also have the second stage of schools, which shortens the time to research once build. And as I now still need money to build them, I go with thought next. This also gives me better research, this time for free though.
Unfortunatly, this is the last bit of my notes. So I will use this last part to thank every reader and everyone who contributed to it by commenting on it. Thanks to yourworstnightm, EvilSanta, Wolfhound, Veldmaarschalk, Ciçatrix, canadiancreed, (Praetorian), Gratianus, the_hdk, siekel, Olaus Petrus, Beetlecat, Byakhiam, cuchulain, tuesday4am, hurricanehunter, Jacob Falling, angryclown, KuzuX, Riddermark, earl of bronze, Congo, motiv-8, and of course any reader not commenting.
Also I'd like to thank the guys in the German Forum, Karl Martell, TheArchduke, Lord Ganja and Silesian_Weaver. Thanks to all of you, without your comments I probably would never have done this!
Also thanks to Byakhiam and the public beta team for making CK into my favourite game, after I already thought I wouldn't play it again. Again, without you I'd never have made this AAR.
Edit: Oh, and before I forget, have a special CSK-thank-you-cookie.
